Created for the Paris Opera Ballet in 1994, this piece was filmed in 2021 and is now being shown again on the big screen, thanks to a partnership between the Micro-Folie network and the Paris Opera.
► Le Parc
Le Parc is a ballet created in 1994 for the dancers of the Paris National Opera Ballet by French choreographer Angelin Preljocaj, with music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and sound design by Goran Vejvoda. This narrative ballet combines classical form and music with an entirely modern choreographic language. Set in a French garden that is both borrowed from the Age of Enlightenment and contemporary, we witness a couple's first love, carnal exchanges and abandonment.
Le Parc is a timeless play that explores feelings of love through the meeting, glances, gestures, smiles and desires between two people. Inspired by 17th and 18th century literature, Angelin Preljocaj depicts a love story that moves between polite banter in a French garden and libertinage in a more secret grove. Set to Mozart's music, the dancers go through the different stages of love, and in particular love at first sight with the two main characters, played by the star dancers Alice Renavand and Mathieu Ganio in this recording.
