Discover the heart of the Vignoble Nantais with the "La Boucle de la Maine" walking trail, a 20km route to be completed in a single day.
Description
Departure is from the car park at the Pont-Caffino leisure centre in Château-Thébaud or from the Tanneries car park in Aigrefeuille-sur-Maine, two access points from which to start this great adventure.
As you travel along the Maine valley, you'll be immersed in a natural and historic setting, where the old mills, of which there were once many in the region, bear witness to the area's rich industrial past. Let yourself be enchanted by the beauty of the landscape and the history of this area, now peaceful and green.
This walk will also offer you plenty to discover. You'll start at the Pont-Caffino Leisure Centre, a former quarrying site that has been transformed into a veritable haven of leisure. Here you can admire the outdoor sports enthusiasts, who engage in a variety of activities such as canoeing, climbing and orienteering.
Another highlight of the route is the "porte-vue", an artistic belvedere in Château-Thébaud overlooking the Maine valley. This work of art is part of the "Le Voyage dans le Vignoble" wine trail, an extension of the Voyage à Nantes art trail. From here, you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the valley and the Pont-Caffino site.
Along the way, you'll pass through shady woods, perfect for a refreshing break, before discovering the vast Muscadet vineyards. Don't hesitate to stop off at the wineries along the way, to rediscover Muscadet and learn more about the secrets of its production.
An ideal walk for lovers of nature, history and wine, both challenging and rewarding, with each stage revealing a new panorama of the Vignoble Nantais.
