The foundations of the castle are over 1000 years old, at the time this medieval fortress was responsible for defending the Duchy on the steps of Brittany. Today the visitor discovers a sumptuous Renaissance castle built in tufa and dating from the end of the 15th century and residence of the same family for 1000 years. The ramparts overlook a set of medieval moats. The vast French garden of two hectares is surrounded by Goulaine wetlands, a classified Natura 2000 environmental area.
