The Helfest Festival The international event of the Vignoble Nantais

Every year, the gates of hell open in Clisson to welcome France’s biggest festival: Hellfest. In 2025, the festival welcomed 280,000 rock and metal fans. More than just a festival, Hellfest offers a real experience to discover, with an unrivalled atmosphere and Dantesque sets and superstructures.

The origins of Hellfest Open Air

The Hellfest Festival, born of the passion of a Clissonnais child , Benjamin Barbaud, has become the pride and joy of the Vignoble Nantais region.

Since its inception, the festival’s distinctive artistic project has earned it international recognition. By cultivating its difference and promoting cultural and artistic diversity, Hellfest has established itself as one of France’s finest events dedicated to extreme music. Hellfest is now the biggest festival in the Pays de la Loire region and the 2ᵉ biggest in France.

A festival Locally based and active

The festival gives the emerging scene a chance and supports regional bands in their development. By cultivating its difference and promoting cultural and artistic diversity, Hellfest has established itself as one of the finest promotional and tourist attractions in the Vignoble Nantais region. The association helps to maintain regional solidarity by acting as a vehicle for social cohesion, particularly through its contribution toeducation and training. The festival also sponsors numerous local associations to support their projects.

The festival has succeeded in bringing together a wide range of players who are essential to its success. The Festival can count on nearly 200 patrons, both long-standing and new members, local and otherwise. Its supporters’ club organises events all year round, as does the festival’s official fan club, Hellfest Cult.

FAQ
  • Where can I find tickets?

Hellfest tickets are available exclusively from the official Hellfest website.

Every year, tickets go on sale several months before the event and are snapped up very quickly. To avoid any unpleasant surprises, avoid unofficial resale sites: they do not guarantee the validity of tickets.

Good to know: the latest ticketing announcements (day passes, official resales, partner ticketing) are always relayed on Hellfest’s social networks and on its website.

  • How do I get there?

The Hellfest site is in Clisson, about 30 minutes by car from Nantes and 2 km from Clisson station. A large car park at Gorges and a safe pedestrian route allow you to reach the festival in around thirty minutes.
For a gentler option, take the tram-train from Nantes station: special shuttles run between Clisson station and the site throughout the festival.

    For more information, visit www.hellfest.fr/infospratiques

  • Can I visit the site?

Yes, you can visit the Hellfest site! Outside the festival set-up and dismantling periods (generally from May to July), the Hellfest site is open to the public. Visitors can discover the unique world of the festival on their own, admiring the monumental sculptures, the legendary stages and the unique atmosphere of Hellfest Open Air, even outside the event.

For a more complete experience, Destination Vignoble Nantais offers guided tours of the Hellfest site all year round. Accompanied by an enthusiastic guide, go behind the scenes of the festival: its history, its symbols, its strong link with Clisson and its local roots.

An original way to experience the Hellfest spirit in a different way!

  • Where can I find Hellfest merchandise?

Looking for official Hellfest merch in Clisson? Good news: there’s no need to wait for the festival!

At the Destination Vignoble Nantais Tourist Office on Place du Minage, you’ll find an exclusive selection of official Hellfest merch all year round: t-shirts, socks, comic books, accessories and posters. It’s the place to go if you want to take home a souvenir that’s 100% metal… and local!

During the Hellfest festival, Sanctuary will of course be offering a wide selection of new releases and limited editions, directly from the festival site.

Finally, you can also find Hellfest merch all year round at two other official outlets in Clisson:

    • The Hellcity Store, on the Hellfest site itself,
    • Sin City, rue Cacault, a stone’s throw from the station.

Whether you’re a long-time festival-goer or just a curious visitor, Hellfest merch is available all year round in the capital of metal!

  • I need accommodation for Hellfest, what do I do?

The Destination Vignoble Nantais Tourist Office does not directly promote or rent accommodation for Hellfest. We only promote partner accommodation, which guarantees quality and a warm welcome for tourists.

To offer your accommodation, we invite you to use national or localadvertising sites (such as Leboncoin, Airbnb, etc.) as well as dedicated groups on social networks, which are very active in the run-up to the festival.
