Caffino BridgeA site at the crossroads of uses
Nestling in a natural setting, Pont Caffino features granite cliffs, footpaths and the undulating Maine River. On the border between Château-Thébaud and Maisdon-sur-Sèvre, this deep, canyon-like site has had many lives: flour mill, flour mill, gas stove factory and granite quarry. The remains of this activity can still be seen, particularly around the quarry house, which was inhabited until the 1960s.
Today, the Pont Caffino leisure centre is a must for lovers ofoutdoor activities. Canoeing, paddle-boating, kayaking, climbing, archery, zip-lines and a 46-metre Nepalese footbridge are just some of the thrills on offer. The site welcomes young and old alike for moments of sharing and excitement. The water sports centre even has a slalom stadium used at a high level, under the aegis of the French Canoeing Federation.
