Our must-haves Château de Goulaine

The Château de Goulaine, on the outskirts of Nantes and the first Château on the Loire, is one of the most remarkable historic monuments to visit in the heart of the Nantes vineyards.

The Château de Goulaine A testament to the gentle way of life on the banks of the Loire

The foundations of the château are over 1,000 years old. At the time, this medieval fortress was responsible for defending the Duchy of Brittany.

Today, visitors will discover a sumptuous Renaissance château built of tufa stone at the end of the 15th century and the residence of the same family for almost 1,000 years. The ramparts overlook a medieval moat. The vast two-hectare formal garden overlooks the Goulaine marshes, classified Natura 2000.

Very pretty castle

“We were able to visit this very pretty château at the weekend, where art craftsmen were exhibiting their wares: saddlery, painting, photography, dance and music…superb! The richly decorated rooms showed them off to their best advantage.
A nice double coup!
