Le Porte-Vue, a spectacular natural lookout situated on the rocky heights 45 metres above the Maine valley, offering an exceptional bird's-eye view of the river Maine, deeply incised between granite cliffs, wooded hillsides and vineyards.
This Porte-Vue, designed by Emmanuel Ritz, was built as part of a wider tourist and cultural project called "Voyage dans le Vignoble", designed to showcase the natural, wine-growing and landscape heritage of the Maine valley. Its purpose goes beyond the simple function of a lookout point: it is part of an approach to enhancing the landscape and cultural discovery. Here are the main reasons for its construction:
- To enhance the landscape and winegrowing heritage: The Maine valley is an area rich in winegrowing hillsides and historic vineyards, particularly the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine.
- The Porte-Vue has been designed to offer a privileged vantage point from which to contemplate the terraced vineyards, the meandering river and the village of Saint-Fiacre-sur-Maine.
- Creating a place for walking and tourism. The belvedere is part of the walking and tourist routes around Château-Thébaud.

It provides an ideal stopping-off point for walkers, cyclists and visitors wishing to admire the valley in all its depths.

Length of the Porte-Vue: 33.40 m
Overhang: 22.50 m (height of the bell tower: 22.45 m). The tapering spire is created by 2 two-dimensional beams.
Maximum width: 3.95 m
Minimum width: 1.50 m
Weight: 26 tonnes: Ritz likes to defy the laws of gravity with this 26-t boom.
56 anchors, including reinforcement and foundations
