From 14 November to 21 December 2025, the Château de Goulaine is hosting The Marvellous Story of Father Christmas: an immersive, family-friendly show to be experienced in a magical setting.
Follow young Yule on a journey full of surprises, sweets and spells, and rediscover the enchanted origins of the Christmas myth. More than 100 actors and extras, flamboyant costumes, secret castle rooms and a captivating staging await you.

It’s hardly surprising that the show is being held in such a place steeped in history. Indeed, the Château de Goulaine is one of the many châteaux of the Loire, but did you know that it is its most westerly? Erected in the XIIᵉ century, it is a treasure built of tufa stone, a material that is ubiquitous in the Loire area. What’s more, it lies at the heart of the Goulaine marshes, which adds to its beauty, all the more so when viewed from the air. It has been listed as a historic monument since 1913 and is part of Nantes’ historical heritage.
