As part of the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days), with its theme of architectural heritage, come and admire contemporary silk-screen printing and painting on iconic sites in Clisson.
As part of the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) on 19, 20 & 21 September 2025, this year's theme being Architectural Heritage, I offer a contemporary look at some of Clisson's most emblematic sites.
Through a series of hand-crafted screen prints - in monochrome, bichrome, trichrome and quadrichrome - Faïzza Zeïna has chosen to highlight the church of Notre-Dame and the château de Clisson, associating these images with Olivier de Clisson's motto: "Pour ce qu'il me plest" ("For what I please").
The church of Notre-Dame de Clisson, the town's landmark monument, stands out for its Romanesque bell tower and neo-Romanesque architecture: round arches, paired columns and sculpted ornamentation. In my work, it appears solid and timeless, captured in a partial view from slightly below, which emphasises its verticality and the finesse of its details.
The graphic style, reminiscent of a hand-drawn line, gives the building a dimension that is both realistic and symbolic, almost iconic. The vivid contrast of colours on a white background reinforces the visual impact and immediately catches the eye.|
The aim of this work is to pay tribute to Clisson's historic heritage, while at the same time demonstrating that an old building can be expressed in a contemporary, colourful and lively visual language.
The exhibition also features: a work dedicated to Étienne de La Boétie's birthplace in Sarlat-la-Canéda, and a freer, more imaginary work based on architecture from elsewhere.
Times: Sat. and Sun. 10.30am-1pm and 2pm-6pm|
