A true testament to rural life in the past, the mill played an essential role in the daily lives of the local people. Its main function was to grind cereals, which were essential to the local diet. Farmers and local residents came together to grind their grain, making the mill a central economic and social centre. From the 19th century onwards, the rise of industrial flour mills, changes in technology and the development of transport gradually led to the decline of these traditional mills.
Today, the site invites visitors to an immersive discovery of this heritage. Since autumn 2022, interpretation panels have been installed to help visitors better understand the mill's history and how it works.
Outside, furniture inspired by the mill's old wings showcases its mechanism while opening up views of the Vignoble Nantais countryside.
Inside, on two levels, orientation tables in enamelled lava reveal the surrounding panoramas and tell the story of the work of the vine over the seasons.
A picnic table is available on site to extend the experience. The site, accessible only on foot or by bike, can be explored at the pace of a gentle stroll, with parking close to the Etang des Tuileries.
