Description

In Clisson, between heritage and artistic creation, let yourself be surprised by a work as unexpected as it is fascinating, nestling under the viaduct.
Why a fresco in such an unexpected place? Because the Clisson viaduct, with its unique silhouette, offers a spectacular backdrop where heritage and contemporary creation are in obvious dialogue. Below, on the banks of the Moine, the surprise is complete: the succession of pillars evokes the vaults of a cathedral, forming a striking backdrop for Le Jardin du Héron. The work can be viewed at two different speeds - in close-up, or from the full perspective of the panoramic telescope - providing a truly immersive experience. Created in 2020 by Alain Thomas, this fresco is part of the Odyssey of Birds regional art trail. Inspired by the aesthetics of Japanese gardens, it draws its inspiration from local landscapes, evoking the Grand-Lieu marshes and the elegant silhouette of the grey heron. A Japanese-inspired garden adds to the poetry of the setting. Just a stone's throw away, let yourself be surprised by a second work by the same artist, La Cascade aux Toucans, installed in the heart of the Saint-Antoine district, at the crossroads of emblematic sites. These permanent creations are all part of the rediscovery of Clisson: a town where history meets artistic creation to offer visitors experiences that are sensitive, unexpected and resolutely memorable. And to extend the discovery, posters and postcards of the works are available from the Tourist Office shop on Place du Minage.
