Overlooking the steep cliffs that dominate the river, this natural belvedere is 45 metres above the Maine, offering a bird's-eye view of the meandering river as it meanders between rock faces and wooded hillsides. Below, the river forms sinuous curves that structure the landscape and accentuate the depth of the valley. The wine-growing hillsides rise to the heights, alternating with wooded areas and rocky outcrops, bearing witness to the site's characteristic granite geology. This contrast between rock, water and vines gives the panorama an impression of grandeur and controlled wildness that is rare in the region.
On a clear day, the light reveals the full richness of the textures and colours:
- the deep green of the woods,
- the changing reflections of the river,
- the mineral hues of the cliffs.
This structure, the work of Savoyard architect Emmanuel Ritz, a specialist in developments in sensitive and extreme sites, is one of the permanent structures of the Voyage à Nantes as part of the Voyage dans le Vignoble itinerary.
