Description
Moulin du Pé, at 64 metres, remarkable for its statue of Christ the King.
Situated at an altitude of 64 metres, this former windmill (13 metres high), which has lost its conical roof, dates from the second half of the 19th century.|
The statue of Christ the King (5.60 metres high – 6,300 kg) and the altar, works in pink granite by the sculptor Jean FREOUR, were added in 1957. This monument, commissioned by the parish priest LEMAISTRE, was built thanks to donations from the people of Lorous and commemorates a Mission. Originally, the statue was to have its arms outstretched in the shape of a cross, but the sculptor was technically unable to achieve this. The cross rises 4 metres above the building.|
From the viewing platform inside the tower, 13 metres above the ground, visitors can admire the Nantes vineyards.
